 Snickers and Tootsie

"Our girls" Tootsie and Snickers, who are ten-year-old black and tan dachshunds, LOVE Aunt Judy and Emily! We have been so blessed to have known them three years, having lived in the same neighborhood and having a mutual love/worship of dachshunds.  We know that when we call Judy and Emily they will care for our babies as we would (if not better). People say that a true sign of how a person treats a dog can be judged by the dog's reaction to that person.  Our girls RUN to "Aunt Judy" and give her lots of happy, wagging tails and many kisses. Don't hesitate to call them if it is just for a day or for a week.  Dachshunds and More will let you rest easy, and your animals will thank you too!

Judy and Emily have done such a wonderful job with my cat Tom and dog Sandy each time they have cared for them.  They go an extra mile to make sure that they are happy and safe.  Judy is like the saying for the postal service: through Wind, Rain, Snow and broken foot, she is there.  She takes her job of pet sitting seriously, and her love for animals makes her a hit in any pet's life.

When we cannot be with our cat and two dogs, we know that Judy will care for them as we would. One of our dogs has diabetes and requires daily insulin injections. Judy was willing to learn how to give injections and is now a pro at this. We know she loves and cares for our pets like we would and we trust her completely. We highly recommend the services of Dachshunds and More.

I am so fortunate to have discovered Dachshunds and More. Judith and Emily come once a week to take Rockette for a walk which lets me have a day to work later or run errands instead of rushing home.  I just love the voicemails they leave me letting me know what “business” Rockette “completed.” Rockette looks forward to seeing them and I know she is in the care of people who truly love her! They provide such a wonderful service to pet owners!

Little Bit

Judy and Emily have been a Godsend to Chandler and I. We have four dogs and never have to worry about them when we are gone! They truly love all their clients and go the extra mile to make sure our “kids” are also on vacation when we are gone! Thank you so much Judy and Emily!

I have had Judy and Emily take care of my dog and cat for over a year. They have been wonderful! I can depend on them to care for my pets like they were their own. Having them take care of my pets at home has made it possible for me to travel for weeks at a time without worrying about them. Judy gives me helpful advice in caring for them, too. I don't know what I would do without them!

Please let me tell you about the two women who saved my life.  I am a grumpy old man in his sixties who took in a cat abandoned by a homeless woman (long story, doesn’t matter), in spite of facing extensive travel obligations in the near future.

I had no idea what to do, given that I would never abandon an animal that had the misfortune of happening into my care.  And then someone told me about Emily Nix.  That would be Saint Emily.  Who told me about her mother, Saint Judy.  And they rocked my world.
I called Judy and explained that I’m terribly particular about the care my animals receive (compensation, I suppose for my misanthropic way of dealing with people), and she suggested a reconnaissance visit to see what could be worked out.  Then, two angels of mercy arrived at my door, smothered my cat, Little Bit, in loving affection, assured me my “picky” demands were a piece of cake, and shuffled me off to Asheville, for a weekend trial run.  Upon my return, it goes without say, the cat was in perfect shape, other than resenting my return which meant less Judy and
Emily time, and my house was also cleaned, the clothes washed, and everything arranged perfectly, not to mention the large number of new toys Little Bit was playing with.  (The rules of grammar suggest that one is allowed to end a sentence with a preposition unless s/he is a Harvard-educated snob.)
With the smashing Asheville success under our belts, the angels packed me off for a two week western trek and felt the need to report to me at least once a day, in great detail, on how Little Bit was faring.  Well, let’s be fair, thriving.  I returned to find a remarkably healthy and happy cat, perhaps a tad heavier, but glowing with Cheshire-like contentment.  And then I saw the cubicles.  It seems my benefactresses had taken it upon themselves to purchase (at their own expense, of course) “residential cubes” for Little Bit to play, hide and sleep in, with her many new toys now strewn about my otherwise now neatly organized house.
Then Hawaii came and went.  More toys, more loving care, more house cleaning and the realization that I would now engage my two saviors to visit and care for Little Bit even on non-travel days when I would be gone for many hours, lest she sulk in solitude.  They now do this at least twice a week and more frequently when necessary.
I do, however, have one complaint about the services
rendered by Judy and Emily.  They spend more money on cat toys, gas, taste treats they bring Little Bit, as well as presents they now leave me, than I pay them!  Even with tips.  And folks, if you aren’t tipping these two women, rethink your ways of showing gratitude, because these women are in it for the love of animals, but when it ends up costing them money to care for my cat, something has got to change, so I leave them large tips, but they spend it
on more toys for Little Bit.  So now I hire them to clean my house.  Yes,really. But how, you may ask, do I know they will clean the house well?  Because each time they come to feed Little Bit, they change the litter, spray the cat box with disinfectant, put down clean papers with two types of litter, clean up the floor around the litter box, and – oh yes – make my bed!
Wait, it gets worse.  They are also incredibly kind people!
They are warm, wonderful, loving and deeply compassionate toward all furry creatures (although I’m sure they will care for birds if you ask them to do so), as well as -unlike me – human beings. And on top of all this, they listen to me play guitar and sing John Prine songs.  And then they tell me I’m good, a highly dubious stretch, but who doesn’t love flattery?
Simply put, I dearly love these women and trust them with the life of my cat, just as I would trust them with my own life.  After another two week road trip I will take out west this Spring, I was planning to leave Nashville.  But, I don’t know if it would be morally acceptable (or just plain decent) to take Little Bit away from Judy and Emily.
All of which is to say, if you dread leaving your animals in the care of someone else, consider your problem solved.  Swallow your pride with relief, because Judy and Emily Nix will care for your furry friends as well as you do.  (Or better.) That’s a promise from someone who knows.
I’m a strict vegan, animal rights freak and attorney who has sued universities over their mistreatment of animals, and I take the care of our furry, feathery and finned friends rather seriously.  Saints Judy and Emily, in either a spiritual or secular sense, whichever you prefer, are nothing short of a blessing to animals in need of loving care.  Give them a jingle (or e-mail), you’ll be glad you did.
